I have been reviewing your excellent materials on femininity tropes. I have been unable to find anything on the trope of 'the girl', which is a particular thing that often happens when a cast has only one main female character, who is not the main character. Often the sum total of her character is 'the girl.' I suppose Smurfette is a really good example of this. All the other Smurfs have their own thing (artist, baker, whatever) but her thing is simply that she is a girl (which is even baked into her name).
