Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread

Sometimes the year is added to a work with a common name for a few reasons
- It means that it's sub pages are not shared with work pages in other namespaces
- If another work in the same title and type is created, it is easier to create the seperate page (no moving the page) for example Rampage will need to be moved since the is now Rampage (2018)
I've come across subpages on the site that are shared by works whose names are the same (such as the movie Ex Machina with the unrelated comic of the same name) so I wasn't sure how to proceed. And given that the subpages in question for Annihilation don't have a lot of tropes on them, I was wondering whether a redirect is necessary. And in the case for the movie Ex-Machina, there was no need to make a redirect to a separate page called Film / Ex Machina (2015).
Edited by BZL8There's already a comic book with the same title: Annihilation. All in all, it's better to differentiate the pages now than to have to move them later.

The upcoming film Annihilation has a page on TV Tropes already. But the link for Annihilation is a redirect to an article titled Film / Annihilation (2018). Should the link Annihilation not be a redirect because there aren't any films documented on TV Tropes that share the same name?
