There was a video game that was around at least as far back as 2006. The main character was a man who ran afoul of a laboratory/government agency. I think it had to do with experiments on children. His "sidekick" later on is a woman named Jane, an ally who was put away into an insane asylum and has reverted to a childlike state. When they are walking around in the rain, she says things such as "I'm cold...Jane's cold", and "Mommy, where are we going? My dress is wet!" Toward the end of the game, the reveal is that what he and Jane are experiencing is a possible future, and so it seems that they did not actually go through this in the present. Part of the game includes guards (re: "The Guards Must Be Crazy" meets "Imperial Stormtrooper Marksmanship Academy" who, for example, can be shot in the ankles (by the hero who is hiding in some kind of duct). An alarm goes off, and guards are running around, but once the alarm stops, the guards resume as if nothing happens.
