Not sure about the technicalities of your question but just just as an Administrivia heads-up: Box-Office Bomb is a Trivia, not a YMMV.

Box-Office Bomb is a trivia item that requires the budget to be bigger than the revenue. Thus, Emoji Movie is not an example.

In general terms, Hollywood considers a movie a 'bomb' if it makes less than 3x its budget. That extra 2x accounts for marketing, overhead, the theater cut, etc. Since you noted that it made about 4x it is by definition NOT a bomb.

A minor clarification: The bomb is avoided after making 2X the budget, not 3X.

Either way, Emoji Movie is not an example.

My gold standard for a bomb is Heaven's Gate when it was released. (Long term, it's done a bit better.) A film making back 4x its budget? Not a bomb by site or other standards.
