I am pretty sure it was a TV show , but might be a movie. A sports journalist/reporter possibly a sports radio host. It was a male journalist. The episode was about not playing the national anthem before sporting events. There was a backlash but he later explained that he didn't want them to play the national anthem before the games because people don't respect it any more. They pan and show events where the people are sitting down or rushing to the bathroom. I want to say it was Perfect Strangers, Frasier, Everybody loves Raymond or something Tim Allen was in.
