Well we've got Stiff Upper Lip for the UK side — that's definitely related. I was expecting to find a subtrope of Eagleland for the US side but nothing really fits that I can see.
I remember reading about a distinction between US and UK stories, where US stories value strength and power more and UK stories value endurance and perseverance more.
I was reminded of this while watching the latest Harry Potter movie, and also when I read the 7th HP book when it came out.
Is there a trope for this? Or how about a link to a web page that describes this in detail?
