Probably not it, but it's the only thing I can think of.

Unfortunately no, but it looks pretty close! It's that sort of thing but I don't believe that it was an educational show. Thanks for looking though!
I don't know if it's weird to reply to a post from a year ago, but I found this post searching for something else, and I'm almost certain your thinking of "Clangers"

The programme Molly's Gang looks like it fits the description
At least I think it was stop motion. It's a show I remember watching as a child, so my memories of it are crappy, but I do remember a few distinct things. It was set on a different planet, I think? A very colourful one at that with many other-worldly plants and stuff. One of the characters (an alien?) received a knitted sweater which was much too large, so they proceeded to flap the sleeves around their hands to demonstrate the length of the arms. The sweater was orange. In another scene a character (possibly the same one) complains about being hungry and says "Look, I've gone all limp!" and dramatically flails around. I think the plot point was that there was something wrong with the food machine... thing. The whole thing looked like Fraggle Rock if Fraggle Rock were a stop motion animation.
I'm sorry, but these are literally the only things I remember about the show and I have no idea where to even start looking for it. It's driving me insane. I know it was English because of the accents but that's about it. I'm not even sure what I'm going to do with this information when I get it. I just *need* to know. Thanks!
