Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
Don't be anxious, you made a decision and worked it out with others. It wasn't against the rules, but generally large edits like that should be run by here or TRS first.
For the web serial index, we don't really have a set standard for indices. While we tend to prefer link only indices, that's only because descriptions don't usually add much. But work indices are different than trope indices.
Honestly, I'd say keep the work descriptions if they're good quality and stay as objective descriptions. I would watch out for descriptions that act as reviews, recommendations, or complaining.
Brief descriptions that provide context are never wrong. On pure indexes, they aren't necessary, but they shouldn't be stripped out just on principle, nor should entries without them be commented out as ZCE.
One of the reasons we have Works indexes is to gather works that all fit some category together for easy reference. One reason people would look at an index is to find other works similar to one they've enjoyed. Brief descriptions are very helpful for that, in a way that a bare name with no information isn't, especially for indexes that are as broad as Web Serial Novel}}s.
Edited by MadrugadaI agree 100% with Madrugada. Let me add a concrete example: the Blaxploitation page contains a work index with short descriptions of the works. I've found those descriptions very useful when getting acquainted with the genre, since there are enough entries that reading all the work pages would have been quite a chore.

On 23rd Nov '16, at Main/Manhua, I deleted the descriptions of every single entry on the page, leaving behind only the titles of the works, citing "We can save the descriptions for the individual pages; this page is just for indexing." I was motivated by how most of the work index pages lack these information and still function alright despite so, making me think that they are unneeded.
The incident prompted a PM discussion between me and fellow editor Mercy, and there was also an ATT thread here started by Mercy that you can find by searching for "Wuz" concerning the situation. (I don't know how to link an ATT thread)
The ATT thread "concluded" that due to how inconsistent foreign-language indexes are, at least original language titles should be restored, and the rest should stay as is.
The case may have ended, but the anxiety never died, and it came back again. Around a month ago, I found this: Web Serial Novel. The page is literally filled with entries that have descriptions going alongside the titles and the occasional description-less title-only entry, and once again I became anxious over this issue again as I debated with myself if I did the right thing in removing all the descriptions, or if I really was being brash in editing without discussing. (for the record, I am anxious over a lot of things, and this is just one of them)
Looking through Administirivia, I didn't really see a style guide on how should index pages be written. Should they have descriptions going alongside the titles? Or are they cluttering the page and making things hard to look through? Those are my questions.
