I am not certain that such "creative folder titles" are actively discouraged, since there are still a good number of tropes where they show up, although I do know they've been removed on a few pages if too much of an hassle (notably on Drill Sergeant Nasty). I guess it's more of a case-by-case basis.

Though I agree that they're an eyesore on Insistent Terminology.

It took me three seconds to press Ctrl+F and type "Literature" and find the appropriate subpage.

Because "literature," "anime," "comic," etc. are in the names of the folders and subpages, I don't think this is a problem on this page. That said, if such words are not there, then bringing it up here is a good idea.

I think being an eyesore is a reason Insistent Terminology can be seen as a bad thing anyway, so I think it ought to be handled here as Self-Demonstrating issues? Which I'm not familiar with.

Yes, they are actively discouraged. There was a Wiki Talk thread a while ago about changing self-demonstrating folder titles, reaching the consensus that they should be "strongly discouraged", in most cases getting rid of them, and rarely keeping them if they're "concise, witty, and don't mess with clarity too much".

Make the folder names normal, IMO.

^^ Ideally, you should not need to use the custom search function to locate the desired folder/subpage.

The self-demonstration of the subpage titles in this particular trope is not particularly amusing, anyway. Wouldn't miss them if they get reverted to their normal names.

^ Exactly. Clear Concise Witty. They are none of those three, as these things stop being witty the moment they exceed the width of the folder tags. A page needs to be readable first and foremost, without using Ctrl + F. There's also the problem that not every trope already has all the media folders, so anyone adding one would either have to.. get equally creative or leave the incongruous one-word folder title that's everywhere else.

Also, it's flat-out an eyesore. Just because some tropes still have them doesn't mean much. So many pages also still have ZC Es and incorrect indentation.

Anyway, I'll edit them to normal when I get home unless someone's gotten to it before me by then.

Witty folder titles are good. These that are not clear aren't. That's the size of it, really.

They're definitely an eyesore on Insistent Terminology.

I have cleaned up the Insistent Terminology page of these folder titles. Didn't realize it concerned the links to the subpages too; it's WAY clearer and cleaner now.

I guess we can remove it from the Self-Demonstrating Article index now... unless what remains self-demonstrating in the description is enough.
