It sounds a little bit like the intro to Mystery!, a PBS show with an animated intro by Edward Gorey.

And if that's you playing in the video you linked, that was amazing! Bravo!

It's definitely not Mystery!, although that is one that keeps popping up when I try to find the show myself. The artwork for Mystery! isn't nearly surreal enough, and the music isn't the same. The music in the video I linked is very, very close to what was done in the show's opening, although the show's music was fully orchestrated (at least most years it was), and I may not have gotten the base line 100% correct in one place.
And thank you for the complement, but it wasn't me playing in the video. I used GNU Denemo to compose a MIDI (http://www.denemo.org/
)
My mom has identified the music as Paganini's
. Perhaps you mean South Bank Show
?

This has been driving me crazy for years now. I'm looking for the name of a show that came on I think in the 80's and early 90's. I remember next to nothing about the show except the classical/jazzy theme song and opening. The opening was, if I remember correctly, animated and surreal, and each season they changed it up a bit. I *think* the show was on PBS, but I'm not sure. This is a link to what I can remember of the theme: https://youtu.be/Y3r_T1QZGfM
Really hoping that someone remembers, because it is driving me absolutely mad.
