It sounds like it could either be the Dinotopia miniseries, or an adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's book 'The Lost World'.

Okay, kind of a broad approach, but you could try the "somewhere a paleontologist is crying" trope page? Could be on there if it's more of a fantasy/sci-fi setting, and they were supposed to be "real" dinosaurs.

Is it Terra Nova?

"premiered on Fox in late September 2011" - so it's not Terra Nova, Daefaroth.

Geez louise - I posted this back in 2016, forgot I posted it, forgot I had an account, then asked the same question 6 years later under a new account. I know it's not Terra Nova or the Dinotopia miniseries, although I'm checking through the Dinotopia TV series now.

lordofthestars thank you for the methodology suggestion!

Probably an adaptation of Doyle's The Lost World, in which sailors stumble on a prehistoric setting on an island or coastline. I found one but it featured sailors also fighting the crew of a Nazi sub, which suggests the setting has been updated from the book.
