Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
Put it up on fanfic.net or Archive of our Own and see what people make of it, how many view and like it. Go screw about on the Writers Block part of the forum with your ideas for feedback. Get into discussion on the work your fic is based on and see if you can say about what you've written. But just saying something like, "Hey I have a story I want you to read and review," it's valid but as said weak tactics. Better to put it up or seek out writing advice where you can show your work.
Currently reading up My Rule Fu Is Stronger Than YoursYou could always draw up a works page for it and crosswick widely, eventually someone will come across it and read it. Remember though The Fic May Be Yours, but the Trope Page Is Ours
Edited by CrypticMirrorIt is not the purpose of TV Tropes to advertise for readers. That an article exists for a work should be an indication that someone has read/watched/played it and thinks it's worth troping. Self-pimping is frowned upon. If you want people to discover your work, use the channels made available by your publication venue (fanfiction.net, youtube, deviantart, etc.).
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"There are also certain forum threads under the Fan Fiction heading where promoting one's own fics is allowed or even encouraged. The thread titled "Promote your fanfic", for example.
Bigotry in the name of inclusion is still bigotry.

So, I know this will rub people the wrong way just for asking, but I'm still doing it. Fanficrec's can't be self-recommended (which is logical of course) but what do you do if you think you've written a good fanfic and want a troper to give it a shot? Admittedly, in the hope of getting a fanficrec, but that's the troper's decision to make. However, seeing as you can't self-recommend fics, how do you achieve getting them to give it a shot? And yes, this is for one of my own fanfics, I shamelessly admit that. But the question and desire for an answer is still genuine.
