Personally, I'd say Trivia.

"This has been used to teach a real life concept" makes more sense as a factoid than a list of all works that have ever been used to teach something somewhere (when you consider how many curricula there are around the world and such).

I think it is an index, and typically applied to those media which are commonly used for many curricula (like Shakespeare, Steinbeck, etc.) — though it is pretty US-centric

I always assumed it was just an index, but I think it can easily work either way.
