I don't think it's proper form for an entire example to be spoilered, if that's what you mean. Could be wrong though.

The entire example being spoilered out rather defeats the point, since you have to highlight the thing to find out what it's about. It's recommended that enough be showing that someone can decide whether they want to see the rest.

He's asking if it's OK to spoiler an entire example except the trope name. No, it isn't. Handling Spoilers should be altered to say this.

I am of the opinion that it should be allowed (if sparingly), because quite frankly trying to write spoiler entries is really difficult sometimes.

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?
