What about trope descriptions? Is it okay for a trope to say something like "this trope is a frequent source of Narm"?
I didn't mean to suggest YMMV should be used as a dumping ground for hatred.
We're talking hypotheticals here, right? We have some imaginary show that, shall we say, the vast majority of people did not like. This isn't just a matter of opinion, but a fact that the majority did not like it.
So the question is, does the description in the main page make mention of that fact? I say, no. The fact that the show is hated by a majority can be noted in YMMV, since it is an audience reaction. And it can be noted in an objective manner, rather than just ripping the show apart with hate.
Personally, I think its fine to mention reactions to really notorious works, by which I mean works that are widely known more for their reputation than their content (like the aforementioned Plan 9 From Outer Space), and not just among a few nerds aping internet reviewers.
If the reception is mentioned in the description, it should be mentioned in the same way Wikipedia would, without giving the impression that we agree or disagree with it, however.
Still not sure whether YMMV pages should be potholed or not, though. Probably not, since I don't think we'd pothole a positive trope on famously good films like Citizen Kane or The Godfather.
For we shall slay evil with logic...Sorry for being blunt. Hatred is covered by darth, not audience reactions. That's why So Bad Its Horrible is Darth and not YMMV. Your argument is solid for keeping a So Bad Its Horrible mention off a work page.
^Link, don't pothole. If the audience reaction does not come up in natural discourse, then it doesn't belong.

According to What Goes Where on the Wiki:
So does that mean things like So Bad, It's Good and Narm should stay off work descriptions (excluding notorious examples like Plan 9)?
