The markup is becoming rare over the Wiki because of efforts to wipe it out (mine included), but I wouldn't totally exclude it still being present on some old, rarely visited pages.

The mention in Text-Formating Rules isn't that long, and it's nice to have it clearly spelled out at least once on the Wiki, so I'd rather see it stays.

If the admins can run a search for pages containing that markup at some point, we can dedicate a thread in Short Term Projects to purging it and then get rid of that part from Text Formatting Rules once that's complete. Until then, we have no way of knowing how many pages still have it, so it's best to leave it there until that's done.

TBH I'm not sure what the "genre box" is supposed to look like. Is Arena Rock an example of a page using it? If not, is there a picture of what it looks like so we'll know it if/when we see it?

No, Arena Rock just uses generic floatboxes. The Genre markup generated a similar box, but it actually said "Genre: [X, Y, Z]" and the font was a little smaller.

The code that used to produce the genre box is also used on some recap pages to list info about episodes, like this one. As you can see, it display an orange-colored box on the right (the text would be orange too if not links, I think).

Ah, yes, those. I don't like those because trying to put a pothole in one breaks the formatting, leaving no easy way to link to other Recap pages. But then, that's what the index is for.

If they're not supposed to be there, I'll go take them out where I've seen them (mostly on Star Trek recaps).

Maybe I'm dumb, but I'm not seeing the difference between the uses in Arena Rock (defined here as "not genre box") and Stargate SG-1 (defined here as "is genre box"). Could someone put it in simple terms for me?

EDIT: So wait, it's a genre box if it says "Genre" in it, but not if it doesn't??

No, after looking at them, I think the Recap boxes are just regular floatboxes too. Still annoying that they can't accommodate potholes.
