The system might've been a PS 1 or PS 2. I remember playing a stuntman-type game on the same system that same day.
As far as the graphics go, I remember at the time thinking they were quite good. They were quite JRPG-styled, especially the cutscenes.
No, I don't still have contact with the friend, I'm afraid.
You need blood and he's got more than enough!I think it might be, actually?
I'm looking up the game now. A lot of stuff is different than what I remember, but there's a lot of stuff that seems familiar too. And it was a while ago, so it's perfectly possible that my memory of it got distorted over time.
So yeah, I think this was probably it. Thanks!

I remember a game I started playing at a friend's house years ago. I only remember:
- a cutscene of a girl sitting at a grave, holding a photograph. The photograph was important for some reason
- You play as a girl with a tinderbox at first, but then you swap to the viewpoint of another character, a boy. He uses a different item
- You fight a dragon as the boy. The battle system was turn-by-turn, but you could set it to auto-attack. This was BAD because the boy would target the wrong part of the dragon, meaning you couldn't beat it that way
All of this happened very early on in the game. I associate it with Final Fantasy, but I think the game was NOT actually a Final Fantasy game
