If not, keep an eye on it...Google hasn't provided me with any answers either but I'll keep looking.

It was a chapter book I read about 8-10 years ago. A group of kids are playing a computer game set in Ancient Egypt, possibly about exploring through the Underworld, but the lines between reality and the game begin blurring slowly, like their pet cat chasing a scorpion around the room, and players actually disappearing within the game.
I remember two of the quests they had to do was find three weapons that would be most effective against the 3 animals that make up Ammit the Devourer and to solve the mystery of how a princess died in her chambers (she licked her kohl eyeliner brush; it contained galena (lead ore) and poisoned her.
I think the climax of the book was when only one kid was left and the game disk vanished/the computer broke, and he had to go to the local museum's Egypt exhibit and step through a false door to enter back into the game world.
I hope someone else would have more luck finding this. Everything I google just leads me back to The Egypt Game, which this is not
