What page are they warring on?

To answer the question, I think the technical answer would be yes, it could hypothetically be an example, but as with any other UI example, you'd need a citation to post such an example. I'd like to see the example in question before saying whether it is or isn't, though.

Also note that the citation rule isn't "You have to post a link to the thing that is making unfortunate implications", it's "You have to post a link to a source that claims that Work X has unfortunate implications."

The main UL page itself, it looks like.

Wall of Text edit reason(s), check. Back and forth, check. It seems to still be in the early stages, though.

Eagal's last edit reason troubles me to start with, but I've noticed him snarking at people and getting in trouble elsewhere in ATT today as well, so I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up getting thumped for excessive snark, so I'm going to move on from that point.

It actually kind of looks like...

  • Purr removed an example they weren't sure of with an edit reason that basically said "I have no idea what I'm doing, please halp." (Basically, it was "I think this might belong on Broken Base and not UI because I was going to add citations to the opposite opinion, which demonstrates that it's a Broken Base.") They shouldn't have removed anything, they should have just asked, but there you have it.
  • Eagel responded by adding it back with an explanatory edit reason, albeit one that betrayed a startling ignorance of what our standards for UI are. However, they were correct that UI and BB are not mutually exclusive.
  • Purr responded by adding additional content to the example (presumably the content they were talking about in their first edit), but violating Example Indentation and Natter.

So basically... I don't think they're edit warring, just making a series of poorly-considered edits. They actually seem to be working together, but I'm not sure either one really... "gets it".

Judging from the recent edit it seems to concern #Shirtstorm. Which is Real Life (dealing with Real Life Backlash over a Real Life Scientist wearing a Real Life Shirt). Just saying.

Searching for Eagal's name here on Ask The Tropers turns up a long history of borderline-rudeness and edit warring. Have the mods ever called him in for a talk about it? It seems like he's been behaving in much the same way for years.

A check of his forum posts show nope. At least not for a good while. Guessing he's been slipping through the cracks.
