Dangerous Forbidden Technique is supposed to be forbidden. We're talking something like Lina Inverse's Giga Slave, which is forbidden to use because it can theoretically destroy the world. From your description, that doesn't even remotely apply to the Revenge Counter. Sorry, but it's absolutely 0% that trope.
From your description, I'd say it might be Death or Glory Attack. As long as the user can survive he gets a super powerful attack, but it carries a huge risk.
Honestly, though? I'm not familiar with the work, so answer this: is it REALLY dangerous to use? I know that line says it's risky, but is it something to where every time the guy uses it he nearly dies? Because if not then it's probably none of the above, and it's just Counter-Attack.

Meliodas normally uses a regular Counter-Attack wherein an opponent attacks and he reflects said attack back right away without damage to himself whatsoever. He's also the extremely strong and fast type that can both dish out punches and take them normally. So basically, he doesn't need to use Revenge Counter normally.
As shown so far in the manga, he has only used Revenge Counter once against an opponent who was immune to normal attacks. When he used the technique, he purposely took attacks from both his opponent and his allies as well via friendly fire to fuel the Counter-Attack. In fact, he even told his allies in secret to actually attack him during the battle so he could fuel the attack. As he was taking the brunt of the attacks that he would normally evade or reflect back, Meliodas was a bloody mess when he decided to unleash Revenge Counter.
When he did unleash Revenge Counter that time, what happened was basically a huge explosion.
Also maybe worth mentioning, Meliodas is a Person of Mass Destruction who normally holds back his own strength. A past crime he supposedly did was obliterating an entire kingdom. Nothing was left of said kingdom except a crater several kilometers wide whose bottom can't be seen.
^ So what I'm getting here is, he does have a Dangerous Forbidden Technique, and it's probably a max-power Revenge Counter, but the manga hasn't explicitly said so yet?
Edited by wrm5^ It's not stated if the crater he supposedly was via Revenge Counter or anything like that. He does have other powers but uses his counter abilities more due to holding back and such.
Also should've noted this but the counter attacks he does are more Attack Reflector rather than Counter-Attack.
Also regarding the Revenge Counter he has done so far, Gowther the one who explained the gist of the attack also informed the opponent that he had 0.2% chance of survival for this particular one. Upon being told this, the opponent immediately decided to run the f right away but was stopped briefly for Meliodas to land the hit. He got completely obliterated and even though he was able to barely get away, his wounds were way too serious for him to survive. Think Freeza's wounds from Dragon Ball being chopped up except replace chop with blown to pieces.

Some questions on an entry whether it fits Dangerous Forbidden Technique or not.
Spoiler though for Nanatsu No Taizai.
In his fight with Hendrickson, Meliodas uses a move called Revenge Counter. Gowther's explanation for this move is:
"He renders himself defenseless against all forms of power and charges himself with the attacks. However, it is a double edged sword where one mistake in taking an attack would be inevitably fatal. That is the captain's ultimate move"
Based on the description of the attack, I listed it as Dangerous Forbidden Technique in Meliodas' entry. However, it's kinda gotten changed twice by two different tropers as shown in its history.
The first change took it out partly with the interpretation that it's not dangerous. The second change had it replaced with Death or Glory Attack partly with the reason that it's more fitting. Both though basically gave the reason that the technique is not really forbidden.
So question before I get into an edit war, does this qualify for Dangerous Forbidden Technique or not when the only thing that makes it forbidden is the risk rather than an outright restriction like Meliodas being told not to use it or something like that.?
Also does it more appropriately fit Death or Glory Attack? From my understanding of Death or Glory Attack, it's an attack that if done right, rewards massive damage to an opponent but if it fails, it puts the attacker at a disadvantage or worse. Due to the nature of Revenge Counter being an Counter-Attack that absorbs attacks, the risk is more on surviving through the attacks to fuel the Counter-Attack rather than the actual attack itself not working or something like that.
Bit sure on it at least being a Dangerous Forbidden Technique despite semantics though less sure on the Death or Glory Attack part.
