I.... don't know. It feels like "always literature" is the obvious answer, but I can't say why. Because of that, I'm not sure the answer is correct.

Probably because unless they've been adapted into either an anime or a manga, basically nobody outside of Japan has actually heard of them in the first place. Consider it a necessary evil until such time as we actually manage to get a folder system that more accurately represents the wide variety of mediums discussed on this site.
^^ Anime adapted from light novels always gets severe Adaptation Displacement in the west, with No Export for You averted only if the anime adaptation is sufficiently popular, if ever.

Under what criteria do examples from light novels that were adapted into anime go into the Anime section and not the Literature section, if they are present in both the original and the adaptation?
