To be fair, if it's a legit example finding just one citation for Ron the Death Eater shouldn't be hard.

Looking to the edit story, the closer that i noted to the mention of a citation rule was ablackraptor using the following edit reason: "Citable examples only, sorry mate. On the plus side, there is some examples of this in the fandom you could find, so its not hard to find citations."

And yet someone edited the Unfortunate Implications entry on Why Fandom Can't Have Nice Things to say UI wasn't the only one requiring citations, apparently going by ABR's edit reason. Why's that? And did ABR act without official mod approval on the RTDE citations thing? Is he even the first to attempt to demand RTDE citations? This is all so very confusing...

Last I saw, looking here, there, and wherever, I can only find that UI requires citations. Nothing about Ron the Death Eater that is an official guideline, rule, recommendation, whatever.

As I understand it, UI is citations only due to a few too many entries that were "some people think" when they were really "this troper thinks", leading to problems. Unless there's been similar problems with Rt DE or something else of a similar nature, I can't see why it would need citations.

You need the fic that applies the treatment (if a fic does is YMMV, not everyone may agree) because Ron the Death Eater doesn't apply to Disney.Frozen, it applies to the fic based on Frozen.

Ron the Death Eater's citation requirement means that you need to cite the fic or other work which applies the trope to a pre-existent character. It's a wholly different concept from the Unfortunate Implications citations.

So basically it is just the same "no general examples" rule that we operate under anyway. Same troping rules of "say where this trope is used"? Seems straightforward enough to me then.

Also, again, you only need ONE citation to prove it's an example. If it is a legit example, finding one citation should be easy.
