YKTTW is the place to propose an index, not here.

I thought I'd run it through here for five minutes in case I'd missed something glaringly obvious.

The only thing these have in common is having a conjunction in them.

Indexes are supposed to be connected by a Super-Trope nowadays and that doesn't really count as one. Some of them are (sort of) oxymorons which might work.

Are they? I keep seeing Indexes go through YKTTW that seem tenuous at best, but I can't really speak against them other than "do we really need such an index?" Then I get Everything's Better With Indexes thrown at me and stop caring.

All these tropes share is a semantic pattern to their names. And that pattern is too weak, IMHO, even to call them snowclones. I don't think an index would serve any useful purpose.

To elaborate a bit on that, to me an index is useful if it helps me find other tropes or works that are related to the one I'm currently browsing. For example, if I'm reading the work page for Hill Street Blues, there are indices to help me find other police procedurals, other American series, other series from the 80's, and so on. And if I'm looking at the trope page for The Vamp and find that it's not quite the trope I want, there are indices to point me to related tropes.

I can't see any reason why I'd want to look at tropes whose names look vaguely similar to the that of the trope I'm reading, though.

I won't argue that on the surface "X But Y" seems like a really silly criteria to look at. But you can't honestly deny that Awesome, but Impractical, Cool, but Inefficient, Difficult, but Awesome, Boring, but Practical, Powerful, but Inaccurate, Simple, yet Awesome, Cool, but Stupid, Awesome, but Temporary, and most likely Simple, yet Opulent at the very least were all deliberately named for each other (I'm guessing Awesome, but Impractical was the first, but I don't really know). I think it's pretty likely that the second batch (the second-level bullets) was inspired by it as well. And despite the simple structure, that's pretty much the definition of a snowclone: A trope that was deliberately named following a theme based on the name of an older trope.

EDIT: But there is a YKTTW now, so feel free to hop over there for this discussion.
