A book I read a number of years ago (ca mid 90s) about an advertising flack in the near future U.S., with one or possibly two sequels. The protagonist is mugged by a street gang, and somehow he (or possibly his boss) decide that they'd be great to use in ads. Details I can recall: The gang is called [name's] Devils; this is also IIRC the title of one of the books. I'm pretty sure the name begins with an F. They have an initiation rite involving castrating a member of a rival gang. When people swear, they often say "Pardon my Norwegian" rather than "Pardon My French" There are also references to a Norwegian War in the relatively recent past. At one point a product is advertised in the background which purports to alter ones sexual orientation. One character later turns out to have used it to become gay, but the process is imperfect. EDIT: The leader's favorite threat is that he'll 'break every bone in your body'. After a producer upsets him too much the gang leader hospitalizes him in an effort to do just that.
