We're not supposed to pothole trope names like that, precisely because it makes the alphabetization tricky, and it confuses new readers.

To clarify: I've seen Janeway A Mother to Her Men potholed to A Father to His Men. It doesn't necessarily screw up the alphabetization, but am I correct in assuming the same rule applies regardless?

Yeah, that's the "confuses new readers" part. It confuses what the actual name of the trope is. If you really want to put mother in there, just go A Father to His Men: Well, mother, but yes. <rest of example>
