Are you sure you can't remember any of the other narrators? Or anything else about the plot? Or what year it was released, age level the story was aimed at...

It wasn't that (this was a single story). I believe it was for elementary-school-age children. I don't remember any other narrators or even what the story was about (though I'm pretty sure it was set in some sort of storybook kingdom), and I don't remember the year, but I know I would've heard it around the very late 1990s or very early 2000s.
