Thanks for replying, I can see a connection but it's not quite what I'm looking for.

I think mixing stuff around the house (like bathroom chemicals and toiletries) could be a trope if it isn't already/probably has examples in media, though to what extent of intent (for fun or with an objective to make smth) I have no idea.

Fun will be had | AYAOTD: Carnival of Doom (and Mr. Tophat) is underrated.

This breaks down into several parts:

MacGyvering if you know what you're doing and have a goal for it.

Chemistry Can Do Anything: in fiction the exciting results of mixing random stuff you found under the sink can be downright magical

Homemade Inventions for the budget mad chemist mostly working with stuff they have laying around the house

Accidental Discovery if you make some miraculous compound without intending to like George does

Technicolor Science and Gratuitous Laboratory Flasks for this working best when you use a lot of colorful liquids and elaborate glassware setups.
