Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread

I'm unclear whether there's actually a serious concern here, inadequate crosswicking maybe, but like, the pattern of being quick to launch seems like a minor one, the only severe issue is with the last one there. Has this alleged refusal to respond to questions been brought up with them at any point before?
In either case, if you're saying the contributions are mostly fine, what are you hoping to achieve with this report that you couldn't achieve by bringing it up with them first? Or have you already done so?
I mean... yes? It's the TLP, everything takes place in the discussions, I'm not sure how else to confront them about their refusal to respond to questions beyond what I'm already doing which is asking repeatedly and discussing the issues openly with other tropers. It's not like they aren't reading the comments, so there's zero reason why we should have to specifically tell them to respond to questions. It's quite literally just how the TLP is supposed to work — you resolve every concern before you launch, you engage with criticisms, you acknowledge questions. See TLP Guidelines. These are basic rules and etiquette we're dealing with. And people have gotten themselves TLP suspended for not listening to criticisms or failing to engage at all.
Like, not to be rude, but you don't seem like you've engaged with the TLP at all since 2020; things have changed a lot in 5 years, and we're really trying to crack down on improper etiquette and rushed launches. I'm there all the time — I have a very strong understanding of the rules of that area and what sponsors are expected to do / how confrontation works over there.
Edited by WarJay77 Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallI could try to ping them here so they're aware of this query and they can chime in. If they don't respond, then perhaps a PM would be more direct. They seem very civil, so if they see all the issues laid out neatly like this, they can address them.

Wuewuewuewuewueing my way to the bank.^^ Well, I guess that's done now. I never really see the point in pinging people over for TLP issues because as noted it isn't like we haven't tried repeatedly to get responses in the past? It's not like editing errors where outside notifiers are necessary; these conversations are nothing new. If I'd thought a ping would be productive, I'd have honestly done so already. But, we'll see how this goes I guess. (Pinging tropers, or having tropers pinged by people who aren't me, to my own ATT queries also kind of makes me pretty anxious due to past bad experiences in this part of the site, so, eh... that's not as important but it's the other big reason I held off)
Edited by WarJay77 Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallI remember them saying in the comment section of one of their previous drafts that they are a student or in education, could that be the reason why they haven't been responding or doing what you said? Maybe they were trying to do too much at once, and some things fell to the sidelines because of other deadlines and responsibilities (not excusing it, just trying to look at it rationally).
I'm not entirely sure, wait and see what Cybirddude says. I shouldn't be making any assumptions; I might be using outdated information for this.
Edited by BuckI have been pinged twice and am willing to respond.
For my Preemptive Threat Elimination I've made an edit that stated that heroic examples are now allowed and that said action tends to be morally gray.
When it comes to Does Not Like Dogs, I've honestly considered deleting the trope because as has been pointed out, it doesn't seem like something that is worth creating a trope about.
That's appreciated, but I'd feel better generally if you made the effort to respond faster on the drafts. It's frustrating and concerning having to really press for any changes to be made

So, I've been mulling over whether or not I should make this report for... well, honestly a long time now. Because the thing is, most of Cybirddude's contributions to the TLP are fine. Most of their drafts launch without issue and at times they are very dedicated to keeping misuse away and fixing problems. Other times, though... Well, I decided to finally bite the bullet and say something because there has been a pattern, for years, of reported issues just... kinda going ignored, unless they're really pushed to listen? Here's a list I compiled, out of order because of the annoying TLP history "sorting" (for reference, the list
features active drafts from May at the top, then Jan, then August... it's a confusing mess).
And they have so many drafts, obviously I couldn't go back and check literally every single one. But of the ones I did check, I found:
And the issue of them not fully crosswicking stuff remains. Ignoring their most recent launch (Flashy Fraud vs. Subtle Substance) which is still new enough to keep working on, we can examine Boast Backfire, the one before that, which has several examples that had launched with it yet haven't been crosswicked. I've been unsure if I should say anything on this point for a long while because they're bringing their drafts up to healthy levels and sponsors not doing full crosswicking is an issue that many are guilty of, not just cybird.
Once again I want to reiterate that a majority of their TLP contributions are positive, most of their drafts have launched without any real issues, and there are cases (like this current draft
) where they take misuse issues very seriously. But in too many cases over the past two years, getting them to even just acknowledge certain concerns has been very difficult. I don't want to seem like I'm jumping the gun to accuse them of being a bad sponsor, but I want to make sure these problems are addressed because it's been going on for a very long time with the same pattern continuing to present itself.
