A gag where a character is reminded that their youth is further behind them than they like to admit by means of culture they still remember as new now considered old.
For example, Bob (a man in his thirties) remembers playing Nintendo games as a child, so hearing a child say things like "my grandfather's Nintendo 64" throws him for a loop.
Or Mass Effect 1 comes up while discussing retro gaming, which classification Bob is uncomfortable with since he remembers the game coming out.
There's posts where adults say how horrified they are at seeing posts from teenagers like "what's teabagging mean" or "what's a brony?" since they vividly remember those cultural phenomena and don't like the implication of them being so ephemeral. Usually invokes turning to dust
, mummifying or other Rapid Aging.
