That's all assuming how pages are ranked has some intent behind it. The search is done by Google's plugin, which is completely esoteric, there may not be a way to make main pages take priority.

Also, tech changes are for Tech Wishlist.

The most popular pages, article titles close to what people are searching for and the detail on said pages factors into it, that crafty Google may not be as mysterious as it lets on! Haha, but yes interestingly the main pages are appearing in, say, Google Chrome results so it’s all sorted there. Then for other series here on TV Tropes a number of searches also bring up main series and character pages, which makes sense now given it’s the same search feature.

It was just My Hero Academia that had a variation. It may be a question of whether TV Tropes would like to have these other pages appear first, I’m not sure if that was something felt to be best in this specific case for what could be any number of good reasons.

Also thank you for pointing out the Tech Wishlist area! Funnily enough I actually checked the Forum but didn’t think the Tech Wishlist & Bug Reports area was the right place. Now it’s clearer that it may actually be bug related given so far it’s just the one occurrence, again unless this was intentional, not sure.

If TV Tropes would like the main pages appearing at the top in its search results for My Hero Academia and indeed any other series would you like me to ask for you on the Tech Wishlist area? If I mention the My Hero Academia example (I could try and check if there are other instances) and request may the main pages appear at the top. At some point could there be technical changes to facilitate this, or may it be examined whether there is a pesky bug hiding somewhere, that might help if that sounds like a plan! Should I ask there if this is to be the way forward?

For the record, when you use the New Search, the MHA Franchise is the first thing that pops up.

Ooh even better, that is a best case scenario! In retrospect the Franchise page appearing in Internet search results is ideal as well. May you share where this New Search is? Perhaps we should ask if the current Search feature in the top right of TV Tropes can be updated with New Search because that solves the issue really.

New Search is just a toggle that changes how our search works, you just click the button on the search page.

Upgrading to "New Search" is actually the last thing any of us want. Try it right now with a random work (NOT one of these popular pages). It's horrendously glitched to the point of widely being considered useless.

Hahaha, that was actually really funny! Perhaps the New Search update is not the best course of action right now then XD

But yes I'll mention the My Hero Academia example on the Tech Wishlist. On paper, if the main pages were appearing first in search results that's more helpful for those reading and for TV Tropes itself so that's double perfect!

Thanks for everyone's views, our group effort has the possibility of making the nice things ever nicer, hooray!
