Grammatically, it would be lower case, but if a work has idiosyncratic capitalisation (like Pokemon does for names of types) that would take precedence.

I checked the Pokemon wiki quickly and it seems that "level" remains lowercased.

^ I'm in agreement. Any other thoughts?

If it's not capitalized in-game, it's not a capitalizable terminology.

Same with "episode", there's a difference between "in Episode 4" as a name and "in the 4th episode" as a noun.

Yeah, this is a matter where the best option is to default to how the work handles things, and Pokémon doesn't capitalize the word "level".

It does capitalize Gym, Trainer, the stat names and a few other things, which is also consistent with HopHoppip's edits.

I continue to agree on the lower case, however, there are some instances where it is inconsistent even in the games I was able to find while looking this up. For example, going way back to the first gen, the Cascade Badge notes "Pokémon up to Lv. 30 will obey".

Might be something the series developed out of as time went on and they were less limited with text. I can't think of any instances from more recent games (though it's possible they're out there).

Anyway, it seems like, for our purposes here, lower case is the way to go.
