The TVTropes Trope Finder is where you can come to ask questions like "Do we have this one?" and "What's the trope about...?" Trying to rediscover a long lost show or other medium but need a little help? Head to Media Finder and try your luck there. Want to propose a new trope? You should be over at the Trope Launch Pad.
It's not a dub induced example. Do we have a trope for examples that are not from a language dub?
Edited by Nejiiuyn My treasure? If you want it, you can have it! Search for it! I left in that place! To give a more specific example of what I'm looking for:
Star Wars: The Clone Wars: In the episode "Storm over Ryloth", the Munificent-class warships used by the Separatists are inconsistently referred to using different terminology. In one line early on in the episode they are called Battlecruisers, in another line Ahsoka refers to them as Battleships, and in another line near the end of the episode they are referred to as Frigates.

Though I don't think your example fits that
Battleship, frigate, and (battle)cruiser are all valid terms for a mid-sized warship in the real world, so it's not Artistic License – Ships or Artistic License – Military
I think this is just using synonyms correctly.
Edited by Scorpion451I think a lot of this is a quirk of Star Wars, which plays fast and loose with its terms for military spacecraft.
Frigates in Star Wars are formidable vessels and often carry a large fighter and marine complement, whereas frigates in real life are among the smallest vessels in a navy. A layperson may refer to this as a "battleship" (ship made for battle), as opposed to a transport or civilian ship.
I don't know that I'd call it artistic license, even. It's just the names they use A Long Time Ago, in a Galaxy Far, Far Away..., and who can say that's wrong?
Edited by KDI'm going to chalk this down as there being no trope for what I'm looking for.

Do we have a trope in which the term used to refer to something In-Universe is inconsistent. Say for instance, if in one-line something is referred to as "A" but then a different line later in the same episode refers to that same thing as "B", or even further in which the same thing is once again referred to using a different term as "C".
