There's nothing confirming Metroid Prime mutated from Phazon Metroids since Phazon Metroids were only created after Tallon IV Metroids absorbed tons of Phazon and even then the stages go Miniroid (infant Phazon Metroids) and then to Phazon Metroid (adult).
The only Phazon-infested Metroids besides the Tallon IV ones were Hunter Metroids and Fission Metroids and Metroid Prime has the ability to create more Hunters and Fissions. It's more plausible Metroid Prime was created from a Tallon IV Metroid caught at the Impact Crater locale. Any other Metroids were kept elsewhere or brought in from other locations by Space Pirates.
Over time after Metroid Prime rose into prominence, it started spawning Hunter and Fission Metroids, but they all were confined to the Impact Crater by Tallon IV's Chozo (Hunters would later escape or Tallon types grew into Hunters).
Personally I'd remove Ambiguously Related because there's no confirming information. It's all speculatory more fitting for Wild Mass Guessing and the like.
Edited by Ngamer01It's not more plausible as there's nothing suggesting and the lore against (separate Chozo created the Metroid to contain the X Parasites on SR388, there's no reason or evidence for the Space Amish Tallon IV Chozo having such dangerous and unnatural creatures) Metroids being there before the seal was made. I see how this issue is getting into fan wonk.
Ambiguously Related does apply as by definition it is when unconfined, but there is official/deliberate hints on the matter which is the case. I just want to remove specific theories as fanon rather than objective in-work trope.
Edited by Ferot_DreadnaughtPhazon Metroids don't show up in the one game where Metroid Prime shows up as Metroid Prime at all. So I'd remove it. The theory is pure fanon as the game itself does nothing to hint to a relationship between the two (And by the time the Phazon Metroids are introduced, the game never really brings up what the original Metroid Prime was like to compare against).
"There are theories"
Trope lists should describe in-game content only.
Edited by Amonimus TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupI removed that part and moved it to Fanon as it is the most prevalent fan theory. Thanks for the help.

Under Characters.Metroid The Metroids, this was added to Metroid Prime/Dark Samus's Ambiguously Related entry.
Is this too much into fan speculation for a non-YMMV? Or is it allowable given the speculative nature of this trope? (Note their Metroid relation is a mess of conflicting continuity and retcons.)
