Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
There is a thread in Special Efforts about Real life sections, that may be a good place if you want to discuss it further. link here. It's on the last page, because you don't need to read all twelve pages of that thread.
I made a mention of it in the thread in Special Efforts as suggested... Thanks for your intervention too, bc. ^_^
If you don't mind my asking, do you find that the "trope" in question (if one can call it that) is unintuitive in its naming? My first thought when I consider Self-Deprecation has nothing to do with it specifically being used for humour... but more along the lines of the Heroic Self-Deprecation trope (albeit not necessarily including the heroism).

Um... could I get a second or third opinion on whether the Real-Life section for the Self-Deprecation page needs a drastic purge or not? It is presently full of all sorts of nearly-identical country stereotypes and what appears to be an exhaustive list of people who have made jokes at their own expense before. What few significant points there are to be made in that section are buried under a veritable avalanche of redundancy. BUT that might just be my own take on things. Could someone else take a look and confirm / deny?
