I... don't think so? The only way would be if the example got moved from a cut page, which doesn't seem to be the case. The edit history shows all.

1. Edits don't belong to anyone, period. The website claims them.

2. It's not possible to hide individual edits, even as mods.

3. You can always use the search by content or by user. If you can't find it, you just remember it wrong.

Another possibility is that you wrote the entry on the trope page and someone else crosswicked it. Again, the edit history would show if this is the case.

  • By "stealing"... you mean copying someone else's edit as-is? For a long time, I also had several trope examples that I added myself, only for other tropers to crosswick them, such as when I added the Replay Mode trope on Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water... and then another troper crosswicked it three days later by copying the example I wrote to the Replay Mode trope page. For edits like these, I don't necessary call the other troper's edit as "stealing" what I wrote. AFAIK, crosswicking helps the wiki, regardless of who originally wrote the example.
  • Was the page moved or completely renamed to a new one? It may be possible that you cannot easily find your old edit because the edit history was in the older page. There's also the possibility that the old page was cut.
  • Was the example moved to another trope? It may be possible that the original example that you remember was on a different trope, but perhaps due to changes/TRS, the other editor just moved it somewhere else, like a subtrope.

^^ I also thought this was the case but can't find the text anywhere else. Yet when I read it I remembered it word by word, that, that's exactly how I would've written it. Call me delusional or whatever you want.

  • What about when a mod restores the page to a certain point? Although I've no idea, how another troper could've copied the text if it was gone.

Mod reverts don't remove previous edits from history.

Found it. I added it to the YMMV tab under the Ass Pull entry but Mama Ladilla moved it to the main tab and deleted the original entry only a day later. Still don't you think that the Ass Pull entry is valid? Using a context for an actual trope doesn't seem like a valid reason to delete an Audience Reaction.

Ass Pull is for plot twists that come out of nowhere. The entry really doesn't seem to describe an Asspull. I'd say it's a good move to Guide Dang It!
