You might be thinking of, for instance, the biography of Terry Pratchett - Terry Pratchett: A Life With Footnotes, which was written by his longtime personal assistant Rob Williams. The second half of the book describes Pratchett's diagnosis of Alzheimers, and the inevitable deterioration of his competences and faculties. Pratchett was wholly aware of this and continued writing and preparing books almost all the way to the end.

No that's not it. I love Terry Pratchett and I definitely would have known if it was him. It was a college professor. I even saw the Work Page but it was not about Pratchett and it at least has a work page.

No worries! It was on the New York Times bestseller list pretty much every single week for aaaaaaaaaaaages at the end of the 1990s so it's burned into my brain like a CRT screensaver.
