I don't think something taking Broad Strokes disqualifies Character Derailment, since the latter is based on viewers' opinion - "this character changed too much and that's unacceptable".
So is it or is it not the same continuity? I would think that comparing, say, Tobey Mcguire's Spider-Man to the Comic Book version can't count as Character Derailment because they're literally different characters.
A few other comments:
- Isn't the entry referencing the page image (which isn't even the image of the page the entry is on) not kosher?
- Pun aside, I feel like the image is really poor. It relies pretty heavily on the caption to indicate it's anything but "a character at one point looked vaguely sinister. They later looked arguably less sinister" and if Tabs' point is to be believed, the "no official Heel–Face Turn happened" then the caption doesn't even establish anything relevant.
Derailment is unexplained changes, not unpopular changes. And if a separate version of the character, it's not the original changing so not this, instead being They Changed It, Now It Sucks!.
But if it was only made non-canon after the fact than it is still valid for CD.
We have Character Derailment Cleanup
to ask.
Regardless, if the image conveys the concept, which the pun helps given it's hard to convey in image form, it's valid even if not technically an example.

I'd been thinking about it, but I want to contest an entry on CharacterDerailment.Western Animation:
I think the problem I have with this entry is that it doesn't factor the fact that Thomas And The Magic Railroad is Canon Discontinuity. Nothing from that movie is ever mentioned in the actual show aside from lifting a couple of characters from it. It's one thing for a character to suddenly change personalities in the actual show, but its also another for a non-canon character brought into canon to have a completely different personality.
So, I want to ask, does an entry a character debuts in being rendered Canon Discontinuity disqualify it from Character Derailment if they go on to display a different personality in an entry that is part of canon?
