I think the answer is somewhere in the middle: the example seems like it fits better under Franchise Original Sin (it's pointing out how earlier albums had several of the same problems, but not on the same level of St. Anger's), but because Franchise Original Sin is supposed to go where the problems started and not where people started really noticing them, the example should be moved wholesale to the main YMMV.Metallica page.

Isn't Older Than They Think a more value-neutral term? Like when a newcomer to a certain series or the work of a band will say, "This is completely new, it's unlike anything they've done before," and someone else says, "No, this has been a feature of their work for a while."

Franchise Original Sin is explicitly about a problem, and how a problem festers until it can't be ignored or rationalized anymore. It's probably the better trope to use alone. I agree with Kadorhal's comment that it works best on the main Metallica YMMV page.

"For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die."

That seems like the best course of action, will be making appropriate edits.

Thanks for playing Kings Quest V!
