A couple of possibilities for you from British anthology series:

Leap In The Dark had an episode title "Poor Jenny" which was about an emotionally disturbed girl who becomes the centre of poltergeist activity.

In Worlds Beyond episode "Reflections of Evil", a young girl is possessed and causes severe poltergeist attacks.

Oh my God. You absolute legend. My sister is going to be so happy. It's "Poor Jenny", just watched it on YT and that scissors scene is at the 15 min mark. No nearly as scary now but I was 8 at the time. I'm kicking myself though as I looked up British horror TV shows a few days back and Leap in that Dark came up. When I went to check it out on IM Db I only looked at the first season because the episodes had no names or synopsis so I didn't look at further seasons. Absolute fool. Really, you don't know how happy this makes me. Honestly been looking on and off for this for years. Just out of interest, did you know the show/episode or just a better researcher than me? 😁

I'll say better researcher, but you actually helped a lot by saying which shows it wasn't. It sounded like it was an anthology show, and by eliminating the shows you mentioned, and limiting my search to the 1980s (I was trusting your memory of the time frame was correct), that left me with only a few shows to check out, and those two leapt out at me.

I used to be a researcher professionally, and I enjoy these kind of challenges. and it's often easier when you're going to the problem from the outside.

Anyway, glad I could help. :)

My sister said thanks too. Seriously, it's been bugging us for years. Cheers
