Removing wicks like that just shows how wonks make people sloppy in their behaviour.

I don't think that's a valid reason, so invite them here.

I think a unilateral change notifier would be merited here due to these changes probably not having consensus behind them. They haven't received any.

I'm confused. None of these were showing up as wicks when I looked at them. I saw two spellings in the text on the page, "K-Pop" (without a hyphen) and "K-Pop", so I Googled to find which was correct and used by actual fans of the genre, and "K-pop" was on Wikipedia, so I made them all that.

Going through the link, I see that's the spelling on the page here about K-pop, too.

I would appreciate you following the "don't be a dick" rule by not assuming bad faith and calling it a "weird wonky/bizarre reason". That's obviously not polite, especially when you don't know what happened.

K-Pop is a wick though. Nothing was "incorrect"; as you can see, KPop turns into K-Pop the link.

For some reason, it wasn't showing up that way for me. I only saw "KPop". And Wikipedia (and the page about the music genre on this wiki) had the p lower-case, so I made it consistent. It was a minor bit of cleanup, not something I was invested in or expecting would start a thread. I'd be happy to make them into wicks. And now I have.

Well, yeah; that's how the wick looks on the editing screen.

On the non-editing screen, from what I recall.

For future reference, Wikipedia is not the ultimate arbiter of how to capitalize a genre name.

Suddenly I'm... still rotating Fallen London in my mind even though I've stopped actively playing it.

I'll go by whatever the consensus is, because I don't care that much, but I would venture that the lower-case is just the normal language usage because "pop" itself isn't capitalized (except at the beginning of a sentence), nor are "rock", "swing", "jazz", "country", "classical", "disco", "hip-hop," "rap", etc. The "K" is only capitalized because it stands for "Korean", a proper name; there's no reason to carry that over to the "p". Also, popularity-of-usage-wise, it was lower-case in the vast majority of my top 66 Google results (and, again, on the page about it here).

Honestly, I don't really care whether it's capitalized either, it was your edit reason and removing the wicks that baffled me. We're not Wikipedia, like the mod said.

I was just looking for guidance on whether people actually involved in K-pop hyphenate it or not, and figured it was a good resource for information.
