Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread

^ Ngl I read that sentence, thought the worst at first and realized you were essentially saying I was putting up new pages and wasn't involved with the dispute whatsoever.
But yeah, as dudeu said, a huge back-and-forth is going on between Broson Roder 232 and Random User 21360 over which arcs fit the SMG4 Cosmology Lore, and I think it might have escalated into an Edit War.
Edited by skan123In case of edit war, you make an ATT post (you just did) in the opening post linking to edits of people doubling down on their example writing. Moderators browse ATT regularly.
Edited by Amonimus TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupHere's a rundown of what exactly is happening, as I understand it.
Some background information: the page begins with an index of Recap/ pages for the series' story arcs. There's three of them at issue here: YouTube, Genesis, and Revelations (ordered one after the other).
- March 19th, 2022
: Euan 2000 edits the list, adding the "SMG4 Cosmology Saga" as its own, unwicked bullet and placing Genesis and Revelations underneath it as second-level bullets.
- March 11th, 2023
: Dragon Ball changes the list to also place the YouTube arc underneath the "Cosmology Saga" bullet.
- March 12th, 2023
: Soufriere reverts the above edit, making YouTube a single-level bullet again. Their edit reason:
"reverted edit made without reasoning" - March 16th, 2023
: Dragon Ball changes the YouTube arc back to a sub-level bullet. (I believe this in of itself is an edit war, though it's not especially relevant to what's been happening more recently and the troper has already been suspended for another issue.)
- March 30th, 2023
: troperaiser once again gives the YouTube arc its own bullet, separate from the "Cosmology Saga." (They also change the wording of the latter to omit "SMG4.")
- June 15th, 2023
: Random User 21360 makes all four pre-Genesis arcs (including YouTube) into sub-bullets under "Cosmology Lore." Their edit reason:
I asked one of the people at the Glitch stand (I think it was Jasmine Yang) about which arcs are in the Cosmology. Turns out it’s every arc prior to Lawsuit.
- For context, Glitch Productions makes the series, and the Lawsuit arc comes after Revelations.
- June 23rd, 2023
: troperaiser reverts the above edit, making the first four arcs single-bullet again. (This, I believe, is where they start edit warring.)
- June 24th, 2023
: Random User 21360 reverts the above edit, once again making the first four arcs sub-bullets under "Cosmology Saga." (This is where they start edit warring.) Their edit reason, with slight formatting corrections:
I directly asked someone at the Glitch Booth back at Comic Con about this, and they outright said the cosmology is every SMG4 arc mixed together (except most likely Lawsuit onwards, given the statement that Revelations was the last instalment in the saga) - June 27th, 2023
: Broson Roder 232 reverts the last edit again (putting the first four arcs on their own bullets).
- July 17th, 2023
: troperaiser adds small headers to the list of arcs: "Cosmology Lore" (containing the first six arcs, up through Revelations) and "Post-Cosmology Lore" (containing the Lawsuit arc, the seventh and currently last one). This is in addition to the "Cosmology Saga" bullet point.
- July 18th, 2023
: Random User 21360 gives the Genesis and Revelations arcs their own bullet points and removes the "Cosmology Saga" one. In other words, every arc has a single-level bullet like a normal list.
- July 26th, 2023
: Broson Roder 232 changes the "X Lore" headers, splitting off the first three arcs to a new "Pre-Cosmology Lore" section. Their edit reason, with slight formatting corrections:
There's a difference between Luke and Kevin stating it publically and some random bloke telling you at Comic Con that "eVeRy aRc BeFoRe GeNeSiS iS pArT oF tHe CoSmOlOgY lOrE".
- For more context, Luke and Kevin are the brothers who created the series.
- July 27th, 2023
: Random User 21360 reverts the above edit, essentially lumping the first six arcs under the "Cosmology Lore" header again. Their edit reason:
It wasn’t just some random bloke, it was directly a Glitch Employee (the employee specifically if I remember correctly was Jasmine Yang). - July 28th, 2023
: Wingnut re-adds the "Cosmology Saga" bullet point, once again placing Genesis and Revelations as sub-level bullets underneath it. Their edit reason:
Let's at least make it clear that Genesis and Revelations are part of the Cosmology Saga. - August 2nd, 2023
: In what is currently the latest revision of the page, Random User 21360 moves the YouTube arc to a sub-bullet under the "Cosmology Saga" bullet point. Their edit reason, with minor formatting corrections:
YouTube is mandatory to the saga. It introduces the Internet Graveyard, features SMG3 as the Big Bad, and sets up just about everything the following two arcs continue on from.
I know this is quite long, but the pertinent information is that both troperaiser and Random User 21360 are edit warring. I don't think Broson Roder 232 is, though, since their two edits changed different parts of the page (one altered the bullet points, the other rearranged the headers above the bullet points).
Edited by BlueGuy Pinball cleanup threadUhm... I'm confused what this conflict is about, but it's clear to me that Random User 21360 is edit warring (suspended). Not familiar with SMG 4 so unsure about troperaiser.
^^^ Adding on to what Arctimon said, determining what is/isn't part of the Cosmology Saga isn't really in the mods' jurisdiction.
^ I admit I could've phrased it more succinctly in my earlier explanation. The core of the conflict is that people disagree on how to split the first six arcs into categories (or if they should even be split at all). Arcs 5 and 6 (respectively "Genesis" and "Revelations") reveal a lot about the origin and mythology of the series' setting and characters and revolve around the same Big Bad, hence why people tend to describe them as being part of an overarching "Cosmology Saga" or "Lore." (Arc #4, "YouTube," sets up some concepts explored in Genesis and Revelations, but I personally don't think it's very directly connected to them.)
However, I could only find two official references to the term: the description for the Revelations arc's playlist
calls it "the FINAL arc to end the SMG4 cosmology lore!" Similarly, the description for SMG4 Movie: Revelations (the arc's finale) describes it by saying "the SMG4 cosmology finally comes to an end." As far as I can tell, it seems like fans have taken these two mentions and ran with them.
In short, while the term "Cosmology Saga" is at least derived from how the series' creators describe the arcs, I'm not sure that it's really official. That's why I thought troperaiser was edit warring, since (as far as I know) it's rather murky and can't be said to be verifiably true.

I saw something terrible happening to people deducing what's part of SMG 4's Cosmology Saga. If you look at what's going on in the recent edit history, people are arguing about said subject, ever since July 27, 2023. Link is provided.

I think this might need some clarification over what's part of the Cosmology Saga and what isn't. I fear this scuffle may escalate into war (BTW, I only added a new episode recap page to the page recently).
Also, skan123 did not get involved.
