Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help. It's not for everything, though. Watchlist it, and if someone tries to vandalise it, revert and report. Lock it only if it happens repeatedly. I think so.

Ooookay, and I'd have to do that forever? Doesn't sound worth it.

Thanks for telling me.

Troper pages don't usually get vandalized, and when they do, the vandals get banned quickly. I'd say it's worth it.

It's pretty rare for vandals to target troper pages unless there's some vandal who, like, has some sort of grudge against you personally. You can ask the mods to lock it if you really want but it's normally not something you need to worry about.

Vandals are rare. I wouldn't really bother with going that far to protect from them.

Some tropers like to leave comments on pages, as a quote-unquote "vandalism", but if you leave a notice not to do that I think they'll comply.

I've had a contributor page for going on 5 years now, and I haven't been vandalized once.

Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.

I have been, but I have a special section designated for it =P

Real, true, and malicious vandalism is quite rare. I've had my troper page for a long while and no one has done any edits I needed to revert. The only common vandalism is the "Vandalize my page here" stuff which consists of "Hi! What's up?"

In my experience, 99% of the "vandalism" on troper pages are from those who play a forum game where they invite folks to post random stuff on said page. I've had a troper page for as long (if not longer) than ccoa, and I've similarly been vandal-free.

Of course, since my troper page is not what you'd think (due to the underscore in my screen name), it's possible that any likely vandal just can't find it.

Actual troper page vandalism, as opposed to the Just for Fun variety, happens rarely enough that you should not have to worry about it. If it should occur, just let us know and we'll deal with it. You should of course put your Tropers page on your Watchlist.

Pretty much what the others said. I myself had my contributor page maliciously vandalized once over the past two-and-something years as a troper here, and the culprit had been discovered and dealt with quickly. Helps that I wasn't the only target.
