So Super Duper Zoe might be edit warring—is this is a "spirit of an edit war" situation, or is this OK?

They seem to have attempted to pare down the entry and remove the wishy-washiness. So it might be good now to invite them to discussion.

Agro's reasoning for deleting the entry was a post from October of last year, and a previous ATT noted that Criston could still count, but just not as it was written back in October.

Seconding that they did try to make an effort to clean up the entry, but it could still use some work.

I third the position that the tried to clean up the entry, but more work is needed.

Eh, I think the entry flat-out doesn't count no matter how it's worded, per what Silverblade2 said in the Hate Sink cleanup thread: Criston is a pretty despicable person, but there are moments where he's given sympathetic or at least tragic qualities that an outright Hate Sink wouldn't have.

Point taken. I retract my support.

Maybe if he gets less sympathetic over the next few seasons, he might qualify, but that is not now.

I agree it's kinda in the spirit of edit warring. That said, I don't think Super Duper Zoe should be penalized for edit warring when the Edit War page doesn't say anything about "similar but different" edits or "in the spirit of edit warring". Penalizing someone for an undefined rule would be unfair.

any troper repeating (or restoring to functionally the same)

That covers the spirit of edit warring.

I would like to see the standards defined with more clarity before charging people for breaking those standards. What does "functionally the same" mean? Is "functionally different but on the same topic" possible? Or would a second attempt at a previously removed idea always be "functionally the same"? In this case, edit 2 has the same thesis statement as as edit 1, but it's totally rewritten so ¯_(°-°)_/¯

That said, I'm not trying to defend the troper, just questioning the edit warring charge. I just went and looked at other edits from SuperDuperZoe. This is the second time this week that this troper's over-zealous use of the term Hate Sink has had to be undone. I think this is someone who needs come in and have a chat about their recent editing.

Should someone go ahead and remove it now? Is more discussion going to be had here?
