Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
I may actually think there's a case to NRLEP this, given it's about villains invading the US and not just any attack on the capital.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper Wall...pretty sure invading and badly damaging the Capitol qualifies you as a villain regardless of your citizenship.
I serve at the pleasure of President Pritchart. We don't call real people villains, Rose. That's why morality tropes are blanket NRLEP'd.
I'm taking this to the thread.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallSigh. My point was that an invasion is an invasion regardless of which passport you happen to hold. People were literally prosecuted and jailed for this shit.
And I don't appreciate being condescended to.
Peacing out of this discussion now.
I serve at the pleasure of President Pritchart. And that wasn't my point, my point was that this is a trope about VILLAINS and thus cannot apply to real people. I wasn't making a political argument. In fact, I'd agree that the capital invasion was horrific and evil... but that opinion does not belong on the wiki as an example under a morality trope.
Edited by WarJay77 Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallCourtesy links: AjWargo first adds the example
, the.Mtn.Man then rewrites it
, and akdavis1989 then deletes it
. Also, the thread
that WarJay77 mentioned.
I'll let the thread decide if the work can even have real-life examples, but if it can, then I think this fits. Either way, you wouldn't be edit-warring since you didn't add the original example.
Also, I went ahead and sent the.Mtn.Man a message about ROCEJ, since they've also had a couple other edits that seem to be pushing an agenda.
EDIT: I don't actually think the thread is the place for this. The sticky says Morality Tropes don't need a crowner, so the question is whether the word "villain" is actually essential (in which case it should be a Morality Trope and therefore NRLEP) or not (in which case the description should be rewritten to be more neutral).
Edited by SpeedchesserThey have more concerning edits as well:
- This edit
is straight from transphobic propoganda
- Several
edits
downplaying
the game's
anti-capitalist themes to whitewash capitalism.
I can check more on them later but they seem to have a conservative political agenda.
"We'll meet again" | 🏳️⚧️^^ Yes, the thread is the right place for this. Unless made NRLEP through TLP, we have to at least discuss it there to avoid derailing things, and I've already started a discussion that anyone is welcome to join.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallOn another edit war and probable conservative agenda to add.
They add an entry about Michael Brown's death
. They edit the entry a few times afterwards.
Yeah, that example needs to go.
I'm also pretty sure we don't need a real life folder for Double Tap at all, but I guess that's a separate conversation.
Feel free to remove that entry ^^
I suspended Mtn Man for edit warring + gave them everything but a bounce because of the agenda related concerns.
Macron's notesROCEJ aside, it's so obsessed with its agenda it actually undermines being an example. The trope isn't "using multiple shots to take someone down," it's "shooting someone that's down in order to make sure they're dead."
Trying to add an example glorifying cops to this trope in particular is completely hopeless.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.

Main.Washington DC Invasion had an example about January 6th, 2021 capitol invasion, gradually iterated over the two years since it happened. Then a couple weeks ago, the.Mtn.Man has turned it into a total whitewashing account, which has been subsequently deleted for being massively inaccurate.
Is it fine to just restore the example how it was before the whitewashing happened? It gets kinda in the three edits rule of Edit War, hence the double check.
