Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
There is a warning on the Karmic Death page that all spoilers are unmarked in the examples.
Also, if you want to talk about spoilery examples in ATT, it's courtesy to use spoiler tags in your post.
work pages are treated differently from trope pages when it comes to spoilers. Some tropes are Spoilered Rotten or are inherently spoiler-y. Any trope having to do with The Reveal, and most death and ending tropes are like that, so spoilering out examples on those trope pages would mean spoilering out the vast majority of the examples, which makes little sense since examples on trope pages are there to clearly demonstrate the trope in question. So for these tropes, there's a rule to just not use spoilers in on-page examples, while warning people of this in the trope description.
For work pages however, spoilers are done on a case by case basis, usually going off of the idea that major plot turns and revelations should be hidden with spoiler tags. For longer running series, spoilers may be off for everything up to a particular arc or season.
So while the example isn't spoilered on Karmic Death, I'd imagine it would be on the actual game of thrones page.
Edited by amathieu13I put most of the OP in folder text. Karmic Death is spoilers off, Ask The Tropers is not.
Ahh, I didn't notice the warning that explains it. Also I apologize; duh, I should've thought about the spoilers in the question too, d'oh!
Thanks all
Adjusted the spoiler warning on the folder in the OP (s3->s4)
I'm curious; what is the threshold for spoilers? I was reading over Karmic Death, looking at the Game of Thrones example. This bit:
The fact Oberyn loses to Clegane, the Red Wedding bit and the reveal it was Olenna who poisoned Joffrey
I'd have thought would all be spoilered. Granted, if you are still watching the show and on this site that's kind of on you, lol, but I was curious if there was a reason those were not spoilered or if they should be?
