Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
The usual criteria for splitting a page is length. The current pages, if they were to be merged, come out as 108566 characters.
Suddenly I'm... still rotating Fallen London in my mind even though I've stopped actively playing it.Just to mention here, I was the one who made the subpages, and I'm already done with the split (I'm not planning to create any more subpages for the film). I created the subpages for easier navigation because the main page was getting too large to list all the tropes and navigate through them. I've already done this with plenty of other works in the past.

, you don't split pages until the editing window tells you to; until then, you can still put them in folders if the page is too long to navigate, but page splits should only be used if the page starts being too big and causing load problems on lower-RAM PC's.
I have to agree that these should be merged. It's a single 102 min film from 1999 that might have a lot of tropes, but it doesn't warrant subpages.
Edited by Piterpicher Currently mostly inactive. An incremental game I tested: https://galaxy.click/play/176 (Gods Of Incremental)Inky 100 and I agreed to revert the subpaging.
As for future discussions of this kind, if 100,000 characters don't justify moving content to subpages, what number would?
Edited by eroockMay I consent to change the Wasn't That Fun? and Your Favorite entries to how I had edited them during the split, please? After the merge, I noticed that they were reverted back to how they were pre-split. Just to show you, here's how I had edited them.
Pre-split:
- Wasn't That Fun?: The friendly aliens' method of transporting the protagonists to their ship can be described roughly as "fly them into orbit (and through a Swirly Energy Thingy) at high speed with nothing but a huge blob of jello to shield them." Everyone looks thoroughly traumatized and nauseated by this experience, except for the engineer... who just remarks "That was a hell of a thing."
- Your Favorite: Played for laughs. The Thermians provide the favorite food of the characters, which is why Sir Alexander Dane gets stuck with blood ticks.
My edit:
- Wasn't That Fun?: The Thermians' method of transporting the crew to their ship can be described roughly as "fly them into orbit (and through a Swirly Energy Thingy) at high speed with nothing but a huge blob of jello to shield them." Everyone looks thoroughly traumatized and nauseated by this experience, except for Fred, who just remarks "That was a hell of a thing."

Other than the fact I had done them during the split, they have nothing to do with it. They're just rewording of my own to make the text more comprehensible.
Edited by Inky100 Waiting to have my head disfigured and mounted on a wall. We've agreed to re-merge, not to revert changes, so any post-split changes should have been saved as well.

Someone started to create subpages for Galaxy Quest. I am more in favor of keeping all the tropes in one place. Is there any criteria to decide which way it should go?
