I'm pretty sure D&D hasn't even finished its theatrical run yet, so I don't think it would apply for AYTIWF.
And I know this isn't specifically about Box-Office Bomb, but it making its budget back automatically unqualifies it for that.
EDIT: And I forgot to mention there's no such thing as a "mini edit war"; it's either happening or not. And given the fact that Frankencastle has deleted the AYTIWF three
times
already
, they are edit warring, as well as number9robotic for adding it in
twice after they deleted it.
This is totally subjective and anecdotal, but: did the movie really have that much of an expectation that it would fail in the first place? It certainly seems like a pat assumption that it would be stuck in the shadow of the previous terrible attempts at a Dungeons and Dragons film, but my awareness of it pre-release also very much included extensive publicity about how the creators were very much not trying to repeat anything about those films.
^I don't think so: people were worried when it was announced initially, but as far as I could tell the trailers seemed to allay the fears. The most that happened was a Vocal Minority arguing to boycott it as a protest over the Open Game License debacle back in January.
Trust me, I'm an engineer!Mentioning Tropiarz's edit-warring thread about this issue

Macron's notes

There's a mini-edit war going around for Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves about the And You Thought It Would Fail entry, which covers the critical/audience reaction as well as the financial turnout. I believe this definitely counts for the trope terms of critical reception (the movie had a ton of really bad publicity and resistance before release, came out to pretty solid reviews and positive audience reaction), but the movie wasn't a smash hit. As of now (over a month into its theatrical run), it's reaching just around $200 million at the box office to a $150 million budget, which I think still defies the early expectations of the film being a Box-Office Bomb, though some folks keep editing the entry out on the basis that it wasn't a profit/success by any means.
Is that too strict? Even if taking into account marketing costs, I think the current gross just clears the margin for profit even though it's not a big one; how much should the level of profit and "success" matter in making an entry?
