The issue is whether or not they are considered part of one show or separate shows in a franchise, like how Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Enterprise are separate shows in the Star Trek franchise.
Edited by costanton11The reason why im against this is that similar installment type franchises like Gundam, Yugioh, and Final Fantasy only talks about Seasonal Rot in their own entries and not the franchise as an overall.
They are clearly different shows? Like, different production teams, casts, characters. Some are Sequel Series (Adventure 02 and Adventure Tri).
The broader question on Seasonal Rot is more a thing for Trope Talk or TRS. My 2 cents is it shouldn't apply to things that are specifically not seasons of one show.

So on the Is This An Example thread
, there is a disagreement over whether or not the different Digimon shows are considered different seasons of a single show, or whether they are different series in a larger franchise, and by extension, whether tropes like Seasonal Rot are applicable. While some of the shows already have entries on that page, is it correct to treat them as seasons? While fans often colloquially refer to them as separate seasons, it seems the official position of the creators is that they are separate series. Not helping the confusion is that the first four series were advertised as seasons of one show in the US. For what it’s worth, with the exception of one Sequel Series, plus a reboot, each show takes place in a separate continuity. How should they be classified?
