On the one hand, the description does specifically say it's when the show's own characters say something was avoidable.
On the other hand, there is such a thing as Conversational Troping.
Trust me, I'm an engineer!I think if the critic is pointing it out about their own in-universe storyline it's fair play but not if they are pointing it out about the thing they are reviewing.
Review shows are doing Conversational Troping either imo, that's supposed to be in-universe as well at a quick look.
I would support removing those quotes.
Edited by dcutter2Conversational Troping here would be discussing the in-universe characters realizing such. What these quotes are discussing are Stupidity Tropes not this.
If the review work has fictionalized portrayals of the in-universe characters the reviewer points these out to than it is valid within the review works universe. But the quotes are just out of universe so will cut as misuse.
Edited by Ferot_DreadnaughtThe first one can still qualify because in that review video they remake the film in an abridged form, and this rant is given by The Critic as one of the cast (I forget which one). You can see it in the way he says "I would be in bed". So it's valid in the Nostalgia Critic's version of the film. But the annotation would have to be something like "Nostalgia Critic in the role of..."
The second one doesn't qualify, because that review is just commenting on the film, not remaking it.
Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years.Slight bump because of an as of yet unaddressed edit war.

Quotes.Could Have Avoided This Plot
Ohvist first added the Suicide Squad quote. I deleted them as "Could Have Avoided This!" Plot is about in-universe characters acknowledging such (I believe I recall asking and being told reviewers doing it in their shows is misuse). Ohvist later added it back. Later Hotaru3 added the NIMH 2 quote. IchigoMontoya deleted both without edit reason. Hotaru3 added both back.
Besides the apparent edit warring, is this misuse if it's out of universe reviewers stating such even within their own shows universe?
