Agreed with all above. While the cited article says "it’s not entirely clear who this show is for," it also specifically says that it's not for Californians. So while there might be an example here, it's not about failing to appeal to Californians (and just failing to appeal to a clearly-defined target demographic wouldn't be an example anyway).
Since there seems to be consensus, I went ahead and cutlisted the page.

Fire Country currently has a YMMV entry that feels like a case of trope misuse:
- Uncertain Audience: Those who live in California and thus might be drawn to a show about their area are also likely to be turned off because it reminds them of personal tragedies.
There is not a single person in California who is untouched by fires. Some have lost loved ones and homes. […] Watching a poorly animated CGI fire rip through the landscape is not a fictional thrill for any of us. Would CBS have made “Hurricane Country,” showing people dying and losing their homes to hurricanes every week? –SFGate review
The trope "Uncertain Audience" pertains to when a show is unclear about what exactly the target audience is, but the entry listed insinuates that the show is aiming for an audience of Californian residents, but the only thing that would remotely suggest that is the fact it's set in California, which is hardly an indication of target audiences.EDIT: Apparently there isn't a minimum number of tropes needed for a YMMV page, so I've struck that part from the ATT.
